Espíritu Santo Conventual Church

The church was the former convent of the Priests of the Holy Spirit. It has been argued that the community of the Holy Spirit was established in the mid-16th century. A congregation of priests operated the Home for Foundlings lived in the convent until its secularisation in the 19th century. The Sisters of the Cross have occupied the convent since 1939.

The building has undergone extensive renovations throughout its long history. It was moved from its original location on Camino de Sevilla to its current site. The new convent was built between 1595 and 1616. Today's appearance is the result of extensive renovation works in the second half of the 18th century. The single-nave temple has a main chapel covered by a dome. The Rococo altarpiece made by Antonio Palomo from Antequera in 1772 stands in the main chapel. The eye-catching small chapel above the altar that houses Our Lady of Guía is from the same period. On the outside, at the west end, stands a three-level tower crowned with a pyramidal spire.

Entrance to the convent is free.
