The Franciscan friars of San Juan de Aznalfarache provided for the parishioners of Tomares from the early 15th century until 1808 when the Archbishop of Seville appointed a secular priest to the parish. The Nuestra Señora de Belén Church was built in 1708.

It consists of a nave and two aisles, separated by semi-circular arches supported by white marble pillars, except for the cruciform columns closest to the main altar.

The Confraternity of the Holy Christ of the True Cross and Our Lady of Sorrows, founded in 1574, is based at this church. The two titular wooden sculptures from the 16th and 17th centuries, respectively, have significant artistic and sentimental value. The author is unknown. The church is also home to an image of Our Lady of Bethlehem, the patron saint of the town after whom it is named. It is thought to have been created in the 17th century.
