Cañada Real and El Palomar Dolmens (Megalithic Necropolis)

The necropolis consists of a series of burial mounds scattered on both sides of the path. Two mounds, known as El Palomar and Cañada Real, have already been excavated. The latter is located on the right-hand side of the path, a few metres from the town centre.

These L-shaped gallery graves, covered by a tumulus, are oriented east. Part of the lateral orthostats and several roof slabs have been preserved. The tombs were used for collective burial. There are two levels within the monument, both with human skeletons.

Fragments of plain, undecorated vases have been found, as well as a fibrolite adze, pieces of flint and two cylindrical, whitish-grey serpentine beads. Juan de Mata Carrizo explored this grave in 1967. Oral testimonies provided information about at least six collective graves at this megalithic necropolis.
