Ronda de la Alcazaba. Walled compound

The Muslim town of “Marssen´Ah” enjoyed significant cultural and urban growth. The complex structure of the multiple walled compounds that composed Marchena were consistent with the paradigm of Hispanic-Muslim cities. The main walled-enclosure surrounded the core area of the town, the Medina. The Alcazaba protected the seat of the political and military power.

The Puerta del Tiro was the main entrance to the Alcazar in the Muslim city. It communicated the citadel directly with the “medina”. However, the Islamic gate was extensively transformed. It ultimately became a gateway with direct access to the palace area during the ducal period.

The Parish Church of Santa María del Alcor is built over a Franciscan shrine from 1260. The shrine was formerly dedicated to a Muslim marabout. The church was built between 1470 until the early 16th century. The building has undergone continual renovations.

This old Muslim fortress is a listed National Monument. The Aguzaderas Castle is located about 3 km from the town of El Coronil.

The Castle has a quadrangular compound with four towers at the corners and two semi-circular ones in the middle of two of its walls. The imposing Homage Tower has two spacious rooms.

The Castle of Puebla de los Infantes is located in Calle Castillo, in the southern and highest part of the town of La Puebla de los Infantes, in the province of Seville. Regarding its history, the castle was built in the mid-14th century (1330 - 1344).

La Mezquitilla Fountain or El Moro Fountain

The old Muslim arcade, which dates back to the 12th century, is located in the village of Mezquitilla. It seems to be evidence of the existence of a small Moorish village built around an oratory or Mosque. It is assumed to be from the Almohad period, as it shows clear similarities with other fountains built in the old kingdom of Seville.

The Cartuja Monastery in Cazalla dedicated to the Immaculate Conception is located in an idyllic place steeped in history, surrounded by forests, with an inexhaustible spring and breathtaking views. There are Celtic, Phoenician, Roman, Muslim and Christian remains.
