The Shrine is an 18th-century building attached to a Roman-era tomb excavated in the rock. Located in Blancaflor Street, it consists of a cave tomb, which serves as a chapel, a small anteroom and a graceful bell gable. The chapel is dedicated to San Críspulo and San Restituto. Legend has it that the two saints suffered martyrdom here in the ninth century at the hands of the Muslims, under the Emirate of Cordoba. The Town Council declared them patron saints of Peñaflor in the 17th century, attributing the end of the plague to the intercession of the two saints.
