Seville, beautiful and diverse

The Plaza de España, popularly known as the "Salon", is located near the forum of the Roman "Astigi", where a splendid set of mosaics remain intact. It has probably been the heart of the city, the historical, social and recreational centre of Ecija, since the 15th century.

As early as the Middle Ages, the Plaza de Abastos (Market Square) of Ecija was the social, political and economic centre of the area. Trade took place from various portable stalls that sold bread, fruit, milk, vegetables and soap.

The Judería de Sevilla Interpretation Centre, located in the heart of the Barrio de Santa Cruz, is the starting point for the routes that go through this true urban labyrinth to take tourists through the old Jewish quarter.

The House of Los Pinelos was built in the first third of the 16th century by the canon of the cathedral, Diego Pinelo, a descendant of rich Genoese merchants living in Seville.

El Real de la Jara enjoyed a strategic position throughout the Middle Ages, which made it a major defensive hub, as evidenced by the remains of the Castle, located a stone's throw from the town.

This 13th-century watchtower was built in times of the Reconquest during the late medieval period. From here, one can see the typical landscape of pastures and scrubland that surround the town, as well as the River Guadiamar, its banks and part of the vast municipal district. The town and the watchtower are likely of Arab origin.

In the past, a medieval castle stood at the confluence of the River Siete Arroyos and the former riverbed of the River Guadalquivir (known as Cañada de la Molineta). All that remains today are two walls, one with a horseshoe arch.
