Nuestra Señora de las Nieves Parish Church

The Nuestra Señora de las Nieves Parish Church is a noteworthy temple that began to be built in the early 14th century. A façade-tower and a magnificent Gothic main altarpiece from around 1500 was added in the third quarter of the 16th century.

From the road connecting Burguillos with Seville, Calle Real climbs up a hill through the centre of the town. San Cristóbal Mártir Parish Church stands at the highest point of the town. This Mudéjar-style church has a baroque-style bell gable. San Cristóbal Mártir Parish Church is dedicated to Saint Christopher the Martyr, one of the town’s patron saints.

Purísima Concepción Conventual Church

The Barefoot Carmelite Convent of the Conception was founded in 1577 by Francisco Álvarez de Bohórquez and his wife, Catalina de Coria. The convent was opened in 1580.

St Mary Magdalene Parish Mother Church

A large ancient temple whose history is essentially undocumented. It was extensively renovated in baroque-style between 1733 and 1765.

In the 20th century, during the violent events in 1936, the Church suffered significant damages due to an arson attack and had to be rebuilt later.

Santa María del Alcor Church

The Parish Church of Santa María del Alcor is built over a Franciscan shrine from 1260. The shrine was formerly dedicated to a Muslim marabout. The church was built between 1470 until the early 16th century. The building has undergone continual renovations.

Church of San Juan Bautista

The parish church of San Juan Bautista was designed by the architect Vicente Traver Tomás and has a 12 by 40-metre Latin cross floor plan, with a semicircular apse and a vault divided into sections by pilasters and ribbed arches. Externally, its harmonious and well-proportioned design is evident.

The Santa María Magdalena Parish Church is home to the Museum of Sacred Art. Opened in December 2010, boasts a fascinating collection of liturgical objects. The ceremonial items, treasured throughout the Church’s history, are on display in a designated area of the Church.
