‘Las Pilas’ Public Washing Place

Las Pilas is located at the intersection of Avenida de Andalucía and Calle del Matadero. The washing place is the only one of its kind in the province of Seville. The architect took ingenous advantage of a not very large corner. As described by P.A.

Duke’s Fountain

It is fed from a spring in the Sierra del Tablón with cool water in summer and warm water in winter with a very pleasant taste, and, after serving as a watering place for animals, it is used to irrigate a vegetable garden. Its name comes from the Duke of Osuna, the owner of these lands centuries ago.

El Pilarillo Fountain

This fountain is located on the slopes of the Castillo de Hierro, 1 km from the town centre on the A-363 road in the direction of Olvera.

This is an old cattle watering place where the women of Pruna used to go to do the washing. There are also some wells, now dry, which were used to supply the town and water some vegetable gardens.

The Alamedilla Fountain, also known as the Eight Spouts Fountain, is located in the Resolana Square, next to the Cristo de los Afligidos Park in Utrera. This old octagonal fountain with a roof shaped like a gazebo has been renovated. The roof, decorated with Sevillian tiles, is supported on eight semi-circular arches.

This fountain is one of the oldest in the town. It is located at Olmo Street, next to Avenida de Andalucía, the main avenue near the road to Seville. The white marble fountain has three taps and a basin. This fountain is attached to a house and topped by three balls. The water is channelled from a spring located about 200 m in Monte Calvario to a water tank, and from there to the fountain.

Its origin is possibly due to a public urban improvement initiative implemented around 1927. It consists of a lower basin or pool with an octagonal shape and straight walls, built in red jasper stone, supporting a central square column, where the taps that supply water to the fountain are located.
