Tortas Andrés Gaviño is a Sevillian family business with a century-old tradition in manufacturing traditional sweets. His family home had several baker’s ovens in which they made the 19th-century olive oil “tortas” using the residual heat from baking daily bread. Over time, the family tradition of making sweets for their own consumption and as gifts for family and friends became a large-scale manufacturing company.
Its products only use natural ingredients, 100% vegetable origin, and contains no artificial colourings or preservatives. Dr Andrés Gaviño, the founder of the company and a paediatrician by profession, is well aware of the importance of a healthy diet. He considered this indispensable, considered this characteristic indispensable in the products he produced and marketed. Ultimately, the product has won several awards and high recognition in the bakery sector.
Andrés Gaviño’s speciality is handmade tortas, made one by one. This labour-intensive preparation is its hallmark; essential for achieving the thin and light texture that has made this brand famous. Other products made by the company are almond tortas, polvoron tortas, coconut tortas, sesame tortas, chocolate tortas, citron bars, “pestiños” and “empanadillas”.
The Almond Torta was awarded the 2017 Bronze Sofi Awards for baked goods by the Specialty Food Association.
