In 1994, at the age of only 18, Francisco Dorantes established the business that was his passion Taller de Guarniciones Dorantes. Thanks to his audacity, determination and tireless work, 20 years later, Dorantes has redefined the art of saddlery, turning his creations into a perfect harmony between man and horse.

From the original 19th century saddlery to his latest creations this year, Francisco Dorantes continues to leave his imprint on each of his works, a perfect blend of past and present. The Dorantes brand, which is present in the best collections in the country, seeks to be a benchmark for enthusiasts and institutions. In 2005, he achieved one of his greatest successes when he was appointed a purveyor of the Spanish Royal Household.

Books and treatises on the art of saddlery have always occupied a significant place in Dorantes’ workshops. One of the best collections of its kind, enhanced by his own publications which record and document his best work.

Description of the tour

The guided tour of the workshop provides insight into the artisan process, from start to end, of restoring or creating saddlery, using leather, metals, etc. It continues in the exhibition-museum, where the different items on display are explained, from Isabel II to the present day. Dorantes Harness Maker is an Official Purveyor of the Spanish Royal Household. The visit includes a coffee or soft drink and a gift.
