The museum, which opened on 11 March 2014, gives visitors the opportunity to learn more about the art and technique of mosaics in the ancient world, life in Roman times, the cultural and commercial importance of Andalusia for the Roman Empire and the legend of the Trial of Paris, linked to the fall of Troy and the rise of Rome, as told by Ovid in the Aeneid. It will also introduce the visitor to the definitive episode of the civil war that pitted Julius Caesar against Pompey the Great and the story of the Battle of Munda, Caesar's last and decisive battle, where Rome's outright supremacy is confirmed.

It consists of 9 rooms and a screening room that will help visitors discover Casariche's relationship with the Roman world. The exhibits belong to the museum collection of Andalusia.
