Shrine to San Roque

The Shrine to San Roque is nestled in Pinares de Oromana at Cerro del Calvario, just south of the city and close to the River Guadaíra.

It houses a 16th-century statue of Our Lady of Bethlehem, and a 17th-century image of St Rocco. There is also a painting attributed to the 18th-century Sevillian School.

The Shrine was part of an ancient penitential route to which several small temples, perched atop the hill, bear witness.

The Shrine to San Roque has only one nave. However, it has been argued that it originally had a transept.

You can admire a stunning view of Alcalá de Guadaíra, Santiago Church, Carlos III Bridge, the Fortified Compound and nearby Santa María del Águila Church from the Shrine.

Opening times

Horario de culto: domingo de 12:00 a 13:00.
