Hacienda Santo Ángel

The 18th-century Hacienda Santo Angel, commonly known as “El Molino”, covers an area exceeding 3,700 square metres. It is located next to the Plaza de España, in the heart of Gines.

A former olive-growing estate that governed the economic life of the town during the 19th and 20th centuries. The fieldwork and farmhands were organised and managed from here, as was the production of its famous olive oil.

The location of the estate, next to the Nuestra Señora de Belén Church, at the highest point of the town, and the capital with a Moorish-style honeycomb decoration in the courtyard are good reasons to believe that the original settlement was situated here.

The buildings have fallen into disrepair over time. However, the Town Council is now planning to restore and reuse it as the new Town Hall, a timely project that will save this historic building for all the town’s residents.
