Reunión del Cante Jondo Festival of La Puebla de Cazalla

This festival was declared an Andalusian Event of Tourist Interest. This initiative was launched by José Meneses and Francisco Moreno Galván in 1967. The festival is held in different squares and locations in the town, bringing together people from all over Spain and other countries, in particular Germany, the United States and France.

La Puebla de Cazalla has always been a stronghold of the art of cante jondo and flamenco, and the birthplace of outstanding artists such as José Meneses, Diego Clavel or Manuel Gerena. And, that does not include the many performers that have emerged and will continue to emerge from the Sevillian countryside.

The festival seeks to promote flamenco and the social values associated with this native Andalusian art at the national and international level. The three facets of this form of art -dancing, singing and guitar-playing-, the unquestionable protagonists of the Reunión and the pre-event activities, are clearly articulated. Furthermore, the festival encompasses a wide range of activities, including conferences, dancing, singing and guitar-playing concerts, exhibitions, artistic performances, book launches, literary contests, film screenings, and flamenco workshops for children.

Also noteworthy is the quality of its posters, all designed by Francisco Moreno Galván, except for the 1994 poster, which was designed by Joaquin Saenz.

The festival is currently held at Hacienda Ntra. Sra. del Carmen (La Fuenlonguilla). Its features and beauty make it the ideal place. From its beginnings until today, the festival has taken place in different venues.

Approximate Date: July
