The walk follows a section of the Vía Verde de la Sierra (Greenway of the Sierra), an old railway line between the provinces of Cadiz and Seville that has now been converted into an eco-tourist trail.
Evidence of the history of this trail are the 5 tunnels you go through along the route. The walk begins at the old Coripe station. The first few kilometres of the walk take you through mountainside olive groves and holm oak-covered hills until you come to a rest area, where you can take a break to enjoy the scenery. After kilometre 16 the landscape opens up to provide a view of the Peñón de Zaframagón (Rock of Zaframagón).
Shortly before reaching the Rock, you will find the Peñón de Zaframagón Interpretation Centre and Ornithological Observatory, a former station that has been converted into an awareness-raising facility and marks the end of our route. The Greenway has a total length of 36.5 km, so, if you wish, you can continue the walk in the direction of Olvera (15 km).
Linear walk. The walk begins at the old Coripe station and ends at the old Zaframagón station, now the Interpretation Centre and Ornithological Observatory. It is perfectly signposted from beginning to end.
