Signposted route that starts and ends the route that joins Las Navas de la Concepción (A-8202) and Constantina at kilometre 18.
It starts next to the bridge of the road over the Ciudadeja Riverside route. The first section id this route uses the tracing of the cañada real (a drover’s road under royal patronage) that in this section runs along the river from San Nicolás to Las Navas. Appropriate signals indicate the direction of the Shrine of Our Lady of Bethlehem (our destination) and La Armada.
The entire route goes upstream along a narrow valley between slopes covered in holm oaks, olive groves and scrubland. The riverbanks consists on a gallery forest ecosystem formed by deciduous colonzing plant species.
This riverside forest may be one of the best preserved in the province, and presents in interesting plant diversity including honeyberry tree, Montpellier maple, holm oaks, ash tees, common alders, silver poplars and black poplars.
Along the way, the remains of water mills and their waterfalls can be seen. The mouth of the Quejigo stream disgorges to the left and the road goes on to the Cortijo de La Armada farm, where are the remains of an Arab castle. The route continues along the banks of the Ciudadeja, leaving being a spring and a recreational area. Further on down the road stands the Shrine of Our Lady of Bethlehem. The way back is made along the same road, leaving the Cerro de Esparto Hill (631 metres high) to the left.
