Semana Santa Estepa

Seville enchants

flamenco

This event has many years of history in the Sevillian town of Carmona. It is held in the month of September, on the occasion of the Patron Saint Festivities of Virgen de Gracia.

Organised by the El Rubio Town Hall, this flamenco festival brings together artists from all new flamenco styles and genres, with performances of “cante jondo” singing, flamenco dances and classical guitar.

The “Memorial Pepita Caballero” Cultural Week is organised each year in November by the   “Amigos de la Guitarra” Association in Carmona. It relies on the sponsorship of different institutions, including the Seville County Council.

This is a free contest where Flamenco and Holy Week traditions come together. It is organized by Alcalá de Guadaíra’s Town Hall Delegation of Major Festivals and Events and in recent years it has become one of the most eagerly awaited occasions prior to Easter.

Celebrated for more than 25 years, this festival owes its name to the popular cantaor (flamenco singer) Joaquín Fernández Franco in honour of the art  of Joaquín el de la Paula,  born in Alcalá de Guadaíra and creator of the soleá alcalareña, the soleá flamenco genre specific to this town.

This flamenco song contest, specific to Alcalá, is organized by the flamenco club Peña Flamenca Soleá de Alcalá.  It already boasts a long tradition as it has been held here since 1992.  It can be considered a reference point for this flamenco genre within the Province and the whole region.

This festival, organised by Alcalá de Guadaíra’s City Council since 2006, partners with the flamenco club, Peña Flamenca Soleá de Alcalá.

Admission is free to this carefully crafted event that seeks to promote flamenco.
