Cascadas del Hueznar

Seville enchants

This is the oldest building in El Cuervo, from the 18th century. It is located on the right bank of the National Road IV, very close to the provincial border between Seville and Cadiz. The total area of the building is 2,016.40 square metres, of which 1,260 is built-up, and 756.40 are interior courtyards.

This old Shrine is now the cultural centre of the Municipal Public Library and the Municipal Historical Archives.

The Hacienda de Montefuerte, located in Navarro Caro Street, now houses the José María Delgado Buiza Municipal Library. This 17th-century Hacienda was a typical olive-growing estate. The Patio de Caballerizas (Mews) is located in the centre of the estate, around which the original buildings were arranged.

Hacienda de Córdoba, also known as Hacienda de Ruiz Cabal, is located on Iglesia Street, adjacent to the church and close to the Arab baths. The latter indicates that the former estate was built on the site of an old Moorish farmstead. The former kitchen garden and a large outbuilding, possibly used for agricultural and livestock purposes, have been preserved.

The cultural centre, located in one of the finest examples of civil architecture in the county, houses a museum on the history of writing.

It also has an area dedicated to the life and legacy of José Manuel Lara Hernández, founder of the Planeta publishing group, who is an El Pedroso native. This centre also focuses on the enormous relevance of mining in the town’s development.

The building was designed by the architect Miguel Fisac. Architecturally avant-garde, it is designed and structured around a system of cubes, using white concrete slabs, reminiscent of the whitewashed houses of Castilblanco de los Arroyos. It was inaugurated on 18 February 2003.
