Semana Santa Estepa

Seville enchants

The existence of Fuente Vieja is documented as far back as the early 17th century, but it may even be before this date. It is likely linked to the foundation of La Puebla de Cazalla as a town.

The Plaza Pablo Olavide is La Luisiana’s main square, in the heart of the town where the Town Hall is located. It has recently been renovated, making it a public meeting place with abundant open spaces.

This fountain is one of the oldest in the town. It is located at Olmo Street, next to Avenida de Andalucía, the main avenue near the road to Seville. The white marble fountain has three taps and a basin. This fountain is attached to a house and topped by three balls. The water is channelled from a spring located about 200 m in Monte Calvario to a water tank, and from there to the fountain.

This is one of the most interesting architectural remains in Gerena. It dates back to the Roman period from which the first chamber (old fountain) and thermal baths originate. The overflow of this first fountain probably served as a drinking trough.

It was declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC) 1984.

The Palace of the Marquis of Cerverales is the most significant civil building in the city of Estepa; a clear example of the civil architecture of Estepa. It is listed as a National Monument since 1984.

The fountain is near the Navarredonda stream, on the outskirts of Navarredonda, a village that is believed to have grown up around a livestock resting place on a cattle track in an area of orchards, due to the presence of groundwater on the surface. This is evident from the emergence of the fountain, which is historically linked to the development of this village.

This fountain was formerly known as the “Old Fountain”.

It is located on the old road connecting Alcolea del Río with Constantina, to the north of the town’s cemetery. The octagonal Roman structure was built with stone blocks. The archaeologist Ponsich unearthed fragments of Roman tiles and bricks near the fountain.
