Semana Santa Estepa

Seville enchants

In the past it had a pipe called "El Caño el Torero" from which drinking water was taken. It was discovered by Juan Rivero Torero. It also had another pipe that fed a drinking trough. Later on, some washhouses were built where the local women went to do the washing. The fountain is no longer as it was then, as the "Caño el Torero" has disappeared and only the drinking trough remains.

This fountain is located at Calle de la Fuente, in the old town of Gelves. It is built on a brick retaining wall. It consists of three staggered basins with a marble slap and a pipe protruding from the wall. The water flows through the two basins until it reaches the bottom. The water was diverted to a pool, now covered, that the owners used for recreational and watering purposes.

The fountain is located, on Alconchel Street, at the edge of the town of Mairena del Alcor, towards Viso del Alcor. Situated on an old drover’s road, it was once used as a resting place for cattle and a camping site. It was quite popular now during the Fair.

This is the most central fountain in Los Palacios and Villafranca. It is also the most symbolic, as it depicts a bronze scene representing the union in 1836 of two different villages separated by a stream: Villafranca de la Marisma, which sought to emancipate from the Dukes of Arcos in the 17th century, and Los Palacios, owned by this same gentry.

For many centuries, it was the only source of water for the people. Its remote past and healing powers were already known in Roman times.

This fountain is the ultimate example of civil baroque architecture in Andalusia. It consists of two buildings (1773 and 1789), two medieval cisterns and a pool.

The fountain is of a rustic nature and can be found on the estate of the same name in a setting of great environmental value three kilometres from the town. It is located between the towns of Olivares and Salteras. It can be accessed by the Alcalá road parallel to the road to the Aljarafesa deposits, 1 km from the road from Salteras to Olivares.

The Alamedilla Fountain, also known as the Eight Spouts Fountain, is located in the Resolana Square, next to the Cristo de los Afligidos Park in Utrera. This old octagonal fountain with a roof shaped like a gazebo has been renovated. The roof, decorated with Sevillian tiles, is supported on eight semi-circular arches.
